lemonyfresh

A softer, sweeter, less pungent take on citral — bright lemon-verbena character with a smooth, slightly waxy-green facet. Lacks the sharp metallic bite of citral itself, giving a more rounded and stable lemony freshness.AI · claude-opus-4-7

lemonyfresh
Appearance

Almost colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils. Somewhat soluble in propylene glycol.

Odor

Powerful and diffusive, fresh lemony odor, richer than that of Citral, but less sharp. The Ethyl citral also lacks the peculiar (and mostly undesirable) caramellic note of commercial synthetic Citral, and it is longer lasting. This type of odor is sometimes referred to as an Epoxy-odor.

Uses in perfumery

This higher homologue of Citral is suggested for use in perfume compositions as a modifier for Citral, a substitute with greater tenacity and a new lemony odor.
