Terms of use
In effect from 27 August 2026.
These terms govern your use of Perfume Foundry, at perfumefoundry.ai. Perfume Foundry is operated by Scentâme Ltd, company number 16524697, of Unit 107, Forestow Studios, 36a Hurst Road, London E17 3BL (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the site you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the service.
The most important thing on this page
Perfume Foundry supports compliance work. It does not perform it.
The restriction checks, allergen totals, category limits and generated documents are calculations over data read from IFRA Standards and from supplier paperwork. They are there to show you where to look. They are not a safety assessment, not a Cosmetic Product Safety Report, and not a determination that any formula is lawful to sell anywhere. Only a qualified safety assessor can tell you that, and every document this service produces says so on its face.
You are responsible for what you make and for what you sell. Do not treat a green status in this application as permission.
Accounts
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract.
- Give an email address that reaches you. Everything we need to tell you — a shared formula, an invitation, a change to these terms — goes there.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
- Accounts are for people, not for sharing. If you want colleagues in, invite them to a house.
What you put in
Your formulas, notes, uploaded documents and the material records you create remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
You give us the permission we need to run the service on them: to store them, back them up, read documents in order to extract data from them, display them back to you, and pass the necessary parts to the processors named in the privacy policy. That permission exists so the software can work, and it ends when you delete the content.
You must have the right to upload what you upload. Supplier documents are generally issued to you for exactly this purpose, but if a document is confidential to someone else, it is not yours to put here.
Promoting a material into the shared library is deliberate and public to other users. Do it only with data you are willing to share, and expect other people's formulas to come to depend on it.
What we put in
The shared ingredient library, the IFRA data, the reference material and the software itself remain ours or our licensors'. You may use them through the service. You may not scrape them, resell them, or rebuild a competing library out of them.
Some reference content originates with third parties — IFRA Standards, supplier documentation, published perfumery literature. We present it as we received it and make no claim to it beyond the right to show it to you.
Use it properly
Do not:
- break the law with it, or use it to make something unlawful;
- upload malware, or anything you have no right to upload;
- try to reach another user's private data, or probe the service for weaknesses without asking us first — ask, and we will usually say yes;
- scrape the library or hammer the service in a way that degrades it for others;
- resell access, or present the service as your own.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Where the breach is not serious we will tell you first.
Cost, and what happens when that changes
The service is currently free. We expect to introduce paid plans, and when we do:
- features you rely on today will not disappear behind a paywall without notice — we will tell you by email, in advance, before anything you are already using starts costing money;
- prices, billing periods and cancellation terms will be shown before you are asked to pay for anything, and you will always have to agree to them separately;
- a paid plan will be cancellable, and cancelling will leave your data exportable.
Nothing here obliges you to pay for anything. If you do not accept the terms of a paid plan, you simply do not take one.
Availability
We try to keep the service up and the data right, and we promise neither. It is provided as it is. We may change features, and we may withdraw the service — if we withdraw it we will give you reasonable notice and a way to get your data out.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Subject to that: we are not liable for business losses — lost profit, lost sales, lost or spoiled product, wasted materials, regulatory penalties, or the cost of a recall — arising from your use of the service or from reliance on any figure it produces. This is the other side of the first section on this page: the calculations are a working aid, and the responsibility for a product is yours.
If you use the service as a consumer rather than for a business, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Ending it
You can stop at any time and ask us to close your account, and we will delete your data. We may close an account that breaches these terms, or one that has been dormant for a long time, after telling you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, close your account and take your data with you.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
