Odor

Fruity-ethereal, heavy, apple-like odor, not as fresh-druity as the iso-Amyl-iso-valerate.

Flavor

Sweet apple-like taste, somewhat harsher than that of the iso-Amyl-iso-valerate.

Uses in flavor

Finds some use in flavor compositions, but is not as popular as the isomer which is furthermore less expensive.

Production

Produced from n-Amyl alcohol and n-Valeric acid by direct esterification under azeotropic conditions.
