An unfamiliar synthetic carbonate ester; by analogy with similar small alkyl/alkynyl carbonate esters it likely reads as a light, fresh, slightly green-fruity aromatic material with a mildly ethereal, solvent-adjacent facet. Not enough reliable data to describe drydown character with confidence.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Insoluble in water, almost insoluble in propylene glycol, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Powerful, penetrating green foliage odor, between violet leaf and cucumber, but rather pungent-gassy in its approach, not as pleasant as the higher esters.

Uses in perfumery

Suggested for use in perfumes as a modifier for methyl heptin carbonate and other esters of acetylenic acids.

Production

Produced from iso-valeraldehyde plus 3-methyl-n-but-l-yne.
