Olfactory profile

roasted
Note tendency
Base
Descriptors
sweettobacco

A powerful, dry leathery aroma with a distinct smoky, tarry facet reminiscent of birch tar and burnt rubber. Underneath there is an earthy, almost animalic quinoline character that lends a naphthalenic, ink-like nuance. Extremely tenacious and diffusive — used at trace levels to build leather and chypre accords.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Tobacco-like, also Nicotine-like, sweet-amine-type odor, not as unpleasant as that of 2-secondary-Butylquinoline.

Uses in perfumery

Of very little interest to the perfumer, beyond that of being a possible impurity in certain commercial lots of iso-Butylquinoline.
