cinnamic

A soft, sweet balsamic-cinnamic material with a gentle spicy-floral character reminiscent of cinnamon bark tempered by a fruity-ester nuance. Less sharp and more rounded than cinnamyl alcohol or cinnamic aldehyde, with a smoother, honeyed warmth that persists into the drydown.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless viscous liquid.

Uses in perfumery

Has been reported as a chemical with possible interest to the perfumer. A great number of Ethoxy acetates, Methoxy acetates, etc. have been produced in perfumery research, but only a few of these chemicals have remained on the perfumer’s shelf as standard items. This ester is, to the author’s knowledge, very rarely used in perfumes or flavors.

Production

Produced from Cinnamic alcohol and Ethoxy-acetic acid.
