Descriptors
green

A fresh, green citrus note with a soft floral-herbaceous facet reminiscent of citronella and lemongrass, but rounder and less sharp than citronellal itself. The acetal protection softens the aldehydic bite, giving a cleaner, more diffusive lemon-peel character with a subtle rosy-green undertone.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless liquid.

Solubility

Almost insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, propylene glycol and most perfume oils.

Odor

Very faint odor when absolutely pure (free from Aldehyde). More lemony-green than the aldehyde proper.

Uses in perfumery

The parent aldehyde has very little use as such in perfumery, and the acetal even less. Beyond some academic interest, there is probably very little, if any at all, demand for this acetal in perfumery.

Production

Produced from Citronellal plus Ethyl orthoformate plus a catalyst in Ethyl alcohol.

Compliance note. Restriction data is sourced directly from IFRA publications and preserved with its document excerpt. Perfume Foundry is a compliance-support tool — not a substitute for a qualified safety assessor (CPSR / PIF).
