Descriptors
greenoilygrassy

A fresh, green citrus note reminiscent of citronella and lemon peel, but softer and less sharp than citronellal itself. The acetal protection tones down the aldehydic bite, giving a rounder, more stable lemony-green character with a mild herbal facet.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless liquid.

Solubility

Almost insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, propylene glycol and perfume oils.

Odor

Very faint, grassy-green, slightly lemony-oily odor. The pure acetal has only very little odor at all.

Uses in perfumery

Beyond some academic interest, there is probably no demand for this acetal for use in perfumes or flavors. It does not offer any interesting notes unobtainable by other means, and it does not contribute power or character to a fragrance.

Production

Produced from Citronellal plus Methanol plus Formimino methylether.

Compliance note. Restriction data is sourced directly from IFRA publications and preserved with its document excerpt. Perfume Foundry is a compliance-support tool — not a substitute for a qualified safety assessor (CPSR / PIF).
