A soft, rosy-green ester with a mild fruity-waxy character. Smells like a diluted, fatty citronellol facet — reminiscent of rose petals and unripe fruit with a slightly oily undertone. Less sharp than citronellyl acetate, rounder and creamier.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and perfume oils.
Delicately floral, pronounced fruity (Apple-Pear-Pineapple notes) and somewhat rosy odor of fair tenacity.
The taste is not too attractive, since the bitterness of the Citronellol component seems to come through.
Occasionally used in perfume compositions as a modifier for lower esters of Citronellol, and in certain mild-floral fragrance types, Peony, Freesia, Sweet Pea, etc. It is also interesting in lipstick perfumes where the conventional lonone-fruitiness certainly needs some renewal in notes.
Produced by direct esterification of Citronellol with Caproic acid under azeotropic conditions.
