A soft woody-floral note with green, slightly earthy nuances reminiscent of dry tobacco leaf and faded rose. Less sharp than geraniol, with a rounded, cyclic character that leans toward damascone-like facets on drydown.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless liquid.

Odor

Soft, floral, sweet odor of rather poor tenacity.

Uses in perfumery

It finds use occasionally in perfumes for soaps and detergents, where its lift helps bring the rosy notes out in practical use of the functional product.

Production

Produced by cyclization of Geranyl acetate in presence of acid. The reaction product is subsequently hydrolyzed to yield a mixture of alpha- and beta-Cyclogeraniol. The two isomers are separated by fractionated distillation.

Compliance note. Restriction data is sourced directly from IFRA publications and preserved with its document excerpt. Perfume Foundry is a compliance-support tool — not a substitute for a qualified safety assessor (CPSR / PIF).
