Cyclohexyl methanol (hexahydrobenzyl alcohol) has a mild, fresh woody-camphoraceous odor with a faintly minty, green nuance. It reads clean and slightly aromatic, without much sweetness or floralcy, and functions as a soft transparent modifier.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Very slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Musty-champhoraceous, slightly minty odor, remotely reminiscent of part of the Patchouli odor-picture.

Uses in perfumery

Has found some use in soap perfume compositions, partly due to its good stability. It introduces good power and diffusion in Pine, Wood and Leather notes, and blends well with Cedarwood, lonones, Rose chemicals, etc.

Produced by catalytic hydrogenation of Methylbenzyl ether.
