Colorless liquid.

Solubility

Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Fruity-herbaceous, berry-like, slightly camphoraceous odor reminiscent of notes in Geranium and Lavender.

Flavor

Dry-fruity, somewhat camphoraceous, not very pleasant taste, yet very powerful, and in concentrations below 2 ppm it shows pleasant Banana-Raspberry-notes.

Uses in perfumery

Interesting and powerful material for herbaceous and floral-herbaceous or floral-fruity fragrance types. In general, it will introduce power and lift to such fragrances, and it performs well in fresh detergent perfumes, etc.

Production

Produced by direct esterification of Cyclohexyl methanol with Propionic acid.
