Very mild, waxy-oily material with a faint balsamic-cinnamic softness. Contributes body and a soft, slightly floral-sweet undertone rather than a distinct aroma; primarily used as a fixative and diluent for heavier florals and balsamic accords.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless oily liquid.

Odor

Oily-herbaceous, sweet odor with some resemblance to Opopanax and Heracleum fruits.

Uses in perfumery

Could find some use in perfumery, particularly in Oriental compositions, where it would be a pleasant modifier to the sweet woods, balsams and mild spices.

Production

Produced by azeotropic esterification of Decyl alcohol with Cinnamic acid, using a catalyst starter.
