Appearance

Almost colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Although this ketone resembles alpha-irone from an olfactory point of view, it has failed to interest the perfumers, partly because it is very unstable, partly because it seems to be difficult to produce in a pure state and consistent quality.

Production

It is produced by hydrogenation of gamma-irone.
