Descriptors

A soft, creamy floral-fruity material blending the warm jasmine-tea character of dihydrojasmone with the milky, coconut-peach roundness of a lactone. Fatty and slightly waxy in feel, it lends a diffusive creaminess to floral and tropical accords without sharpness.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Faintly straw-colored or almost colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Very slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol, propylene glycol and oils.

Odor

Heavy floral, but also fatty and waxy odor. The floral notes resemble those of Gardenia and Tuberose, but the beauty of these notes is somewhat marred by the interference of fatty notes.

Flavor

Powerful, fatty, Peach-like taste in extreme dilution.

Uses in perfumery

Overall not a very interesting perfume material.

Production

1) from Hexylbromide and Levulinic ester (Ethyl levulinate). 2) from Methylamylcyclopentanone by oxidation and hydrolysis followed by lactonization of the hydroxyacid.
