Appearance

Colorless liquid.

Solubility

Very slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils. Somewhat soluble in propylene glycol.

Odor

Refreshing herbaceous-minty, also Pulegol-like, Lavender type odor of moderate tenacity.

Flavor

Herbaceous, minty-Lavender-like taste, but rather bitter at concentrations higher than 20 ppm.

Uses in perfumery

This material offers quite refreshing notes at low cost, but it does not substitute for Lavandulol in artificial Lavender or Lavandin oils. The title alcohol finds use in soap and detergent perfumes, room spray fragrances, etc.

Production

Developed from several methods, e.g. from 5-Methyl-2-iso-Propyl hexene-2.
