A soft floral-green aromachemical reminiscent of mimosa and cassie, with a dry hay-like, slightly powdery undertone. Reads as a natural, dusty yellow-floral facet — useful for adding a discreet mimosa or acacia nuance to florals and colognes.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Almost insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

The odor is generally described as floral, heavy, sweet and tenacious.

Uses in perfumery

This chemical was developed in a series of experiments aimed at producing pleasant smelling alkyl- and aryl-derivatives of pyridine. Some of these derivatives have found a place in perfumery, but most of them are rare and not commercially available. This is one of the comparatively rare derivatives.

Production

Produced from phenylethyl chloride by heating it with pyridine in the presence of a copper catalyst.
