Descriptors
mintytea

A pungent, phenolic herbal note reminiscent of buchu leaf — sharp, slightly minty and medicinal with a diffusive blackcurrant-like sulfurous edge. Dries down to a drier, camphoraceous herbal facet with a lingering aromatic bitterness.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless or white crystals.

Odor

Powerful minty, somewhat tea-like, herbaceous odor.

Flavor

Has occasionally found use in flavor compositions, years ago in various toothpaste flavor compositions, but the author believes that the use of Diosphenol in flavors has been practically abandoned.

Uses in perfumery

This material tends to oxidize so easily that it is a hindrance to its wider use in perfumery.

Production

Produced by isolation from Buchu leaf oil (crystallization).
