A softer, more rounded version of dodecanal — waxy-aldehydic with a citrus-peel lift and a clean, slightly floral-soapy character. The dimethylacetal form is less sharp and more diffusive than the parent aldehyde, with a smoother fatty-orange facet that holds longer on the blotter.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Colorless liquid.
Poorly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.
Very faint, fresh-green and slightly oily odor with a fruity-waxy undertone.
It has found a little use in flavors, mainly in Honey types where its soft waxy notes can be utilized.
Has been suggested for use in perfumery, but its lack of power and the fact that the parent aldehyde is quite stable under normal concentration and chemical conditions in the functional products, has made the acetal more or less superfluous.
Produced from Dodecanal and Methanol under dry hydrogen chloride.
