Appearance

Colorless liquid.

Solubility

Almost insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Oily-fruity, fresh-herbaceous, but overall not very natural odor of moderate to poor tenacity.

Uses in perfumery

Apart from occasional use in low-cost masking odors for industrial and technical purposes, this ester has very little application in perfumery. It is generally considered too harsh for use with Lavender or other herbaceous fragrance materials.

Production

Produced by direct acetylation of the corresponding alcohol.
