Colorless mobile liquid.

Odor

Powerful, fresh-fruity odor with notes of overripe Pineapple, a remote resemblance to Ethyl valerate, but far more powerful and diffusive, greener and sharper.

Flavor

This ester finds some use in flavor compositions as a trace component in imitation Apple, Rum, Pineapple, Strawberry, Melon, etc. and minute traces can also be useful in certain types of Lemon and Lime, to introduce the green freshness of the rind.

Uses in perfumery

The ester has little, if any, application in perfumery.

Production

Produced by esterification of Ethanol with Cyclopentene acetic acid.
