Uses in perfumery

This higher homologue of Methylionone finds use in perfume compositions as a modifier for the conventional isomers of Methylionone, mainly because of its slightly superior tenacity and more powdery character.

Production

Produced by condensation of Citral with Methyl-n-propylketone, followed by cyclization with Phosphoric acid.
