Appearance

Colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Very slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol, miscible with perfume oils.

Odor

Herbaceous-green, leafy, Violet-leaf type odor with Coconut-like undertones.

Uses in perfumery

This ester finds a little use in perfumery as a modifier for its lower homologue, or as a variation from the conventional Violet-leaf theme. The delicate fatty-nut-like notes blend well with Ionones or floral complexes in Lily, Narcissus, etc.

Production

Produced by direct esterification of Ethanol
