greensweetearthyfatty

A waxy-fruity aroma chemical with a fresh, slightly fatty character reminiscent of pear skin and unripe fruit peel over a green, mildly aldehydic backdrop. Develops a soft, oily-clean nuance that bridges fruity and floral notes.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Insoluble in water and propylene glycol, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Fatty, sweet-earthy, green and Reseda-like odor, weaker or milder than Ethyl decin carbonate, and not as closely resembling Reseda.

Uses in perfumery

The title acetylenic ester has little, if any interest to the perfumer at all. Its lack of power is disappointing, particularly in consideration of its cost.

Production

Produced from methyl nonyl ketone via n-undec-l-yne to the acid, from which the ethyl ester is prepared.
