Descriptors

A soft, green-floral acetal with a rosy-hyacinth character and a clean, slightly waxy phenylethyl facet. Diffusive and natural-smelling, it opens with a fresh leafy-green tone and settles into a delicate rose-petal nuance without the harshness of the free aldehyde.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless, somewhat viscous liquid.

Solubility

Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Somewhat musty-woody, faintly musky odor with rosy undertones. The musky character is not exceptionally pleasant, and the term musky is, in fact, often applied to materials, the odor of which is hard to describe because the odor level is low.

Uses in perfumery

The author feels that this material is of little or no interest to the perfumer beyond that of the academic interest.

Production

Produced from Formaldehyde di-phenylethyl acetal plus Cyclohexanol by heating.
