A softer, more diffusive version of heliotropin — powdery floral with a sweet almond-cherry facet and a light anisic lift. Less waxy and more airy than heliotropin itself, lending a delicate powdery-floral aura to compositions.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Very mild floral, sweet odor of mildly green-spicy type, remotely reminiscent of Heliotrope and Hawthorne — but much weaker.

Flavor

This acetal finds a little use in flavor compositions for its creamy-nut-like taste in imitation Coconut, Nut, Cream, Vanilla, and other flavors, particularly those intended for baked products.

Uses in perfumery

The author finds that this material is of very little value and could not possibly arouse much interest among other perfumers even if the material were made commercially available.

Production

Produced from Heliotropine and Ethanol with dehydrating agent.
