A fresh, green-fruity aldehydic material — the acetal form softens raw heptanal's fatty citrus bite into something cleaner and more diffusive. Facets of unripe melon rind, cut grass, and a whisper of orange peel emerge, with much better stability than the parent aldehyde.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Colorless liquid.
Almost insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.
Winey-herbaceous, oily-green odor. Etherial and mild when pure, but traces of free Aldehyde influence the odor picture considerably to the disadvantage of the Acetal.
In the author’s opinion, only the cyclic Acetals of Heptaldehyde are of considerable interest, being powerful and distinctly different in odor type from their parent Aldehyde.
Produced by condensation of n-Heptanal and iso-Propylalcohol. The Acetal is formed spontaneously.
