A very faint, waxy-oily material with a soft, almost odorless character. Used more as a fixative/emollient carrier than as a true odorant, it lends a smooth, slightly musky-waxy skin feel to compositions.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Very faint, fatty-oily 'laundry'-like odor. The odor is somewhat reminiscent of the odor of fresh vegetable oils.

Uses in perfumery

Although this ether has been mentioned in literature as a perfume chemical, the author doubts that it can be classified as such. It has very little to offer, and no unusual effects.

Production

Produced from n-Heptanol and Lauryl alcohol by dehydration.
