A soft, natural-smelling floral chemical with a fresh green-fruity character reminiscent of lily-of-the-valley and freesia, with subtle waxy-pear nuances. Rounder, less citrusy and less sharp than pseudoionone itself, giving a diffuse muguet-floral effect that blends smoothly into floral and fruity accords.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Almost colorless, slightly oily liquid.
Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.
Sweet, herbaceous-floral, somewhat woody odor of moderate tenacity. The floral notes tend to appear rosy, the herbaceous sweetness is almost haylike/Lavender-like, and the undertones are also fruity.
This material, often sold under trade names, is used in perfume compositions as a modifier in low-cost Rose formulations, mainly for household product fragrances, etc. It may introduce a freshness resembling that obtained from Norhexahydrofarnesal, but it does not have the power of that aldehyde. It blends excellently with Citrus materials, 'Rose alcohols', Cedarwood derivatives, Lavandin and other herbaceous oils, etc.
Produced by complete hydrogenation of Pseudo ionone, e. g. by Ponndorf reaction (Aluminum iso-propoxide reduction).
