Appearance

Colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, miscible with oils.

Odor

Very mild oily odor. In the author's opinion, of very little interest to the perfumer.

Uses in perfumery

This ester may find use in a few types of floral fragrance or artificial flower absolutes, e.g. Tuberose and similar types, where it can assist in producing oily-waxy 'petal'-like notes in the floral picture.

Production

Produced by direct esterification of n-Hexanol with Lauric (Dodecanoic) acid under azeotropic conditions.
