Extremely powerful sulfurous thiol with a pungent, catty, blackcurrant-bud character. In heavy dilution it opens into tropical fruit facets reminiscent of passionfruit, guava and grapefruit peel, with a sharp green edge. Overdosed it reads as sweaty, urinous and unpleasant.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Almost colorless oily liquid.
Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.
Green-fruity, almost medicinal or woody odor, vaguely resembling that of Blackcurrant. Traces of free Hydrogen sulfide - usually present in poor grade acids and esters - will completely ruin this odor picture.
In spite of mention in the perfumery literature, this ester has probably very little, if any interest to the creative perfumer. The author believes that this material has only academic interest.
Produced by direct esterification of n-Hexanol with Thioglycollic acid under azeotropic conditions.
