BASE
metallicink-like
Appearance

Colorless viscous liquid.

Solubility

Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Faint metallic or ink-like odor, presumably due to traces of free phenol, other than the subject material.

Uses in perfumery

When perfuming products containing this ester, due consideration should be paid to the fact that it is a high-boiling component and that its odor will mainly appear in the terminal notes of the fragrance which may be added to the cosmetic product.

Production

Produced by esterification (several methods) of meta-Cresotinic acid with Menthol (or an ester of Menthol).
