A fresh, green-floral aroma chemical with a characteristic hyacinth character and leafy, slightly aldehydic facets. Softer and less pungent than free hydratropaldehyde thanks to the acetal protection, giving a cleaner, more diffusive green-floral top note that evokes crushed foliage and spring flowers.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Odor

Peculiar earthy-floral, musty-green odor. Some observers find a Peach-like note in this odor, but the author has not been able to personally underwrite this.

Production

Produced by condensation of Hydratropaldehyde with Ethyl alcohol, usually supported by dry Hydrogen chloride to remove condensation water. It can also be produced from the Aldehyde via Ethyl orthoformate reaction.
