Descriptors
floralgreen

A soft, muguet-floral material with a green, slightly waxy character — reminiscent of hydroxycitronellal but rounder and less sharp thanks to the acetal masking of the aldehyde. Delivers a clean lily-of-the-valley effect with better stability in alkaline media and improved tenacity over the parent aldehyde.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Very faint green-floral odor of considerable tenacity.

Uses in perfumery

This is probably one of the least interesting Acetals of Hydroxycitronellal. Its lack of power and of distinctly different or unusual notes will probably put this material back into oblivion or at least on the research shelf. It has, in the author’s opinion, no mission in the perfume laboratory.

Production

Produced by condensation of Hydroxycitronellal and iso-Butanol.
