A soft, radiant orange-blossom and neroli character with a fruity-grape facet inherited from methyl anthranilate, rounded by the woody-floral sweetness of linalool. Less sharp and more diffuse than methyl anthranilate itself, with a powdery, slightly petitgrain-like finish.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Pale straw-colored viscous liquid.

Solubility

Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Sweet and very tenacious, mild but heavy-floral odor with balsamic-Lavender-Honeysuckle notes, sometimes with Orangeblossom character. The odor varies with the method of preparation.

Uses in perfumery

This rare ester finds some use in perfume compositions, mainly in the heavy floral or Oriental fragrance types, where tenacity is desirable. However, the general opinion is that the ester is of very little odor value and it does not offer any new or characteristic notes unobtainable with conventional materials.

Production

Produced from a-Methylisatoic anhydride plus Linalool.
