Appearance

Colorless oily liquid.

Odor

Fruity-herbaceous, but somewhat harsh, Jasmin-like odor of good tenacity.

Uses in perfumery

This ketal, although rarely offered commercially, is manufactured by a number of creative perfume houses for 'captive' use in various fragrances. It lends power and novel notes to Jasmin compositions, and it can be used in general as a floralizer/blender with some fixative value.

Production

Produced by condensation of Catechol with Methyl amyl ketone.
