Colorless mobile liquid.

Solubility

Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, propylene glycol and oils.

Odor

Refreshing, green-ethereal, herbaceous-fruity odor of poor tenacity.

Uses in perfumery

This ether has found occasional use in perfumery, mainly as a trace component in certain floral fragrances, as a 'lift' to Lavender and Geranium, but also in larger amounts as a masking ingredient in industrial fragrances, where diffusive power and low cost are the prerequisites in many cases.

Production

Produced from Methyl-iso-butylcarbinol plus Ethanol by dehydration.
