Appearance

Colorless liquid.

Solubility

Almost insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Sweet and slightly spicy, warm, yet refreshing odor with distinctly fruity notes, in dilution appearing Strawberry-like.

Uses in perfumery

The ester finds some use in perfume compositions, mainly of the Oriental and pungent-floral-fruity type. It blends very well with Amylsalicylate, Patchouli oil, Styrax and Labdanum, the Ionones, etc. and gives new effects with Ethyl methyl phenyl glycidate in lipstick fragrances.

Production

Produced by acetylation of alpha-Methylcinnamic alcohol.
