A soft, green-floral aldehydic material reminiscent of hyacinth and cyclamen with a fresh, slightly cocoa-tinged undertone. Cleaner and more diffusive than the parent aldehyde (hydrocinnamic aldehyde / cyclamen aldehyde), with the acetal moderating harshness and adding a smoother, more aerial character. Works as a subtle green-floral top-heart transition.AI · claude-opus-4-7

This acetal, rarely offered under its proper chemical name, finds some use in perfume compositions, particularly in floral bases as a blender/modifier. It performs very well with Phenylpropylalcohol in Rose bases, where it supports the freshness in spite of the rather heavy overall type. It is also occasionally used in Oriental fragrance types, where it blends excellently with Patchouli, Styrax, Peru and Tolu balsams.
Produced from alpha-Methylhydrocinnamic aldehyde with Methanol by condensation in presence of a dehydrating agent.
