A sweet, warm-balsamic aromatic with a clear methyl-salicylate/wintergreen lineage softened by a methoxy nuance. Reads as tuberose- and ylang-adjacent — creamy, slightly medicinal, with a phenolic-spicy undertone that gives depth to white florals.AI · claude-opus-4-7

This Phenol-ether-ester has been suggested for use in perfume compositions where it can add very pleasant tonalities in combination with Oakmoss and Vetiver.

Production

1) (natural) by hydrolysis of Primulaverin, the glycoside of Primrose rhizomes. 2) from Salicylic acid by oxidation with Potassium persulfate and Ferrous sulfate. Then alkaline methylation, followed by esterification.
