A sweet, fruity-floral material combining the neroli/orange-blossom character of methyl anthranilate with a soft, slightly powdery styrallyl nuance. Reads as grape-like and jammy on top, opening into a warm orange-flower/petitgrain body with a faintly balsamic drydown.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless or pale straw-colored oily liquid, solidifying in the cold.

Solubility

Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Samples from different sources show such difference in odor characteristics, that one is tempted to claim that the absolutely pure material is virtually odorless. Commercial grades display variable amounts of Orange blossom or Lilac or Narcisse-type odor, depending upon the method of production and of purity of the resulting ester.

Uses in perfumery

It can give useful effects in Honeysuckle, Sweet Pea and other sweet florals, and its tenacity is excellent.

Production

Produced from Isatoic anhydride and Methyl phenyl carbinol.
