A fresh, green-floral aromachemical with a distinct hyacinth and rose-leaf character. Slightly aniseed-tinged at the top, opening into a clean, dewy floralcy with a soft anisic-sweet undertone. Useful for adding a natural, leafy lift to white florals and muguet accords.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless mobile oil.

Solubility

Almost insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Very powerful, diffusive and penetrating odor, warm-floral, but when undiluted rather gassy-pungent. In dilution Jasmin-Tuberose-like, floral, sweet. In extreme dilution the odor is even slightly rosy.

Uses in perfumery

It finds some use in perfume compositions as a powerful and lifting ingredient in Hyacinth, Rose, Jasmin, Lilac, Pikake or other heavy exotic florals. It is, naturally, also used in the preparation of artificial Pandanus oil, also known as Kewda oil or Keora oil.

Production

1) from Phenylacetaldehyde dimethylacetal by catalytic reduction. 2) from Phenylethyl alcohol and Methanol by dehydration.
