A sweet, coumarin-like aromachemical reminiscent of new-mown hay, dried tobacco leaf and slightly almondy herbal notes. Softer and more diffusive than coumarin itself, with a powdery, warm undertone that lends a nostalgic fougère character.AI · claude-opus-4-7

White crystals.
Insoluble in water, poorly soluble in alcohol, soluble in some oils, almost insoluble in Propylene glycol.
Sweet-herbaceous, but very faint odor. When heated, the crystals emit a more pleasant nut-like or deep-caramellic sweetness of great tenacity. The odor is more coumarin-like and less Celery-like than that of the Maraniol.
Has been suggested for use in perfume compositions, but is suffers from the same drawbacks as Maraniol: it is very poorly soluble in the conventional perfumery solvents, and it is not sufficiently powerful to compensate for this drawback.
Produced from Resorcinol and Ethylacetoacetate, followed by Methylation with Dimethylsulfate in weak aqueous alkali.
