This ester finds limited use in perfumery, mainly as a modifier in citrusy Cologne type fragrances, where it will support Bergamot, Petitgrain, Rosemary, Lavender and similar oils, and it will exercise its effect in the top-note only. In proper blends with aliphatic aldehydes, it may produce very refreshing notes and pleasant sweetness, covering the chemical pungency of the aldehydes.
Produced by azeotropic esterification of Myrcenol with Acetic-Formic acid.
