A fresh, waxy-fatty aldehydic material with a clean citrus-peel edge and a soft green-fruity undertone reminiscent of melon rind or cucumber skin. In dilution it reads as a bright, slightly oily top-note lift, similar in character to other C9 unsaturated aldehydes.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Uses in perfumery

Have good possibilities as a modifier and “renforcateur” in all herbaceous fragrances, Lavender, Lavandin, Fougére, Chypre, Colognes, Clary Sage, etc. It gives very interesting effects with Opopanax and Patchouli for novel “Oriental” themes, and it may add the desirable herbaceousness to heavy floral fragrances such as Jasmin and Gardenia.

Production

Produced by acetylation of the alcohol, which is obtained from Hexylmagnesium bromide plus Acrolein
