A green, fatty-fruity ester with a distinctive melon-cucumber and pear-like character, edged by a waxy, slightly aldehydic aliphatic quality. Over time it opens into a soft floral-green tone reminiscent of freshly cut stems and unripe fruit skin.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Production

Various methods yield Nonynols: condensation of Heptaldehyde and Acetylene yields 2-Nonyn-3-ol; condensation of Methyl amyl ketone with Acetylene yields 3-Methyl-1-octyn-3-ol. Other methods are known and may afford different isomers. Acetylation will produce the ester.
