A soft, honeyed rose-floral aroma chemical with a mild balsamic and slightly fruity undertone. Rounded and diffusive rather than sharp, it lends fullness and a natural sweetness to rose, muguet, and floral bouquets, blending seamlessly with phenyl ethyl alcohol and geraniol.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Solubility

Very slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol, propylene glycol and oils.

Sweet-fruity, rosy-floral, slightly honey-like odor of excellent tenacity.

Flavor

The taste at 20 to 50 ppm is sweet-fruity, peach-honey-like.

Uses in perfumery

This ester has found quite extensive use in perfumery, and it is still surprising to see many perfume laboratories without that material on hand. It has been available from many different suppliers for several decades, it is classified as a comparatively low-cost item, and its odor type should place it among the most frequently used materials for daily use in fragrances for household products, soaps, detergents, room sprays, etc. where volume is involved.

Uses in flavor

The ester finds also use in flavor compositions for imitation fruit flavors, tutti-frutti, etc. partly acting as a fixative.

Production

Produced by azeotropic esterification of Phenylcellosolve with iso-Butyric acid.
