Appearance

Colorless oily liquid.

Odor

Warm, rosy-fruity, slightly earthy-herbaceous odor of good tenacity. Not as sweet as the iso-butyrate, but warmer.

Uses in perfumery

This ester has found some use in perfume compositions, particularly in variations of the Rose theme, where the warm notes from this material are almost inimitable.

Production

Produced from Ethyleneglycol monophenyl ether and Propionic anhydride.
