A soft, honeyed floral aromachemical with a rosy, hyacinth-like character and a mild balsamic sweetness. Rounder and less green than phenylethyl alcohol, it lends a warm, natural honey-floral nuance that develops smoothly over time.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless liquid.

Solubility

Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Fresh and sweet, rosy-fruity odor of moderate to poor tenacity. More rosy than fruity, and not quite as sweet as Phenylethyl acetate.

Flavor

It has a slightly burning taste in concentrations near 20 ppm, and it is bitter even below that level.

Uses in perfumery

This ester has been suggested for use in perfume compositions, but it is possible that it is only very rarely used, or not used at all.

Uses in flavor

It is therefore unlikely that the material can find use in flavors.

Production

Produced by direct esterification of Phenylethylalcohol with Methoxyacetic acid.
