A soft, slightly sweet floral-balsamic material with a rosy, honeyed character and a waxy, mildly fruity undertone. In isolation it reads as a rounded, diffusive floral fixative — not sharp, with a gentle creamy persistence.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless liquid.

Solubility

Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Sweet and fruity Lily-Hyacinth-like odor of moderate tenacity. The odor volume is not very great, but the odor type is rather pleasant.

Uses in perfumery

This ester has been used in perfume compositions as a modifier for lower homologues and similar fruity-floral perfume chemicals. The fruity notes are almost Apricot-like with a faint touch of green undertones, while the floral notes are suitable for Lily, Freesia, Magnolia and Sweet Pea.

Production

Produced by catalytic hydrogenation of Benzoyl carbinyl butyrate.
